Atlantic City Blackjack -- Find The Game You Want

Brief listings of Atlantic City casinos' BJ rules   (218 hits)

In general, the blackjack player should be looking for games with rules favorable to himself.  The most basic favorable conditions for blackjack include:

1)  A single-deck game.  However, it is the multiple-deck games which are dealt face-up and often easier for counters.

2)  The dealer stands on all 17s.

3)  Doubling Down is permitted on any first 2 cards.

4)  Doubling Down is allowed after Splitting.

5)  Surrender is offered.

6)  The dealer gives good penetration of the deck, dealing more cards before shuffling.  Many players recommend not playing unless penetration is at least 50-60%.

In Atlantic City, you can expect the casinos to offer doubling after a split, but no resplitting.  You can usually double down on any 2 cards in shoe games.  Only some casinos have the Surrender option, and cards are basically dealt face-up.

Here are individual casinos' posted rules: (We will be updating this frequently.)

Caesars Palace

Caesars offers SD21 and DD21 dealt by hand.  Also multiple-deck 21 from a shoe.

In shoe-dealt games, you can double on any 2 cards; and you can double after a split.

In the SD and DD games doubling is permitted on 10 or 11 only.

After splitting, you can take as many cards as you want, except if you've split aces.

Also offers the side bet of Over/Under 13.  In this you can make an additional bet up to your original (up to $50) on your first 2 cards, betting that they will total over or under 13.  When cards are exactly 13, dealer wins.

Trump Plaza

Dealer stands on all 17s.

All games dealt faceup.

Resorts

Late Surrender offered.

Splitting after a Split allowed.

Offers Spanish 21 and Blackjack.

Sands

Only 6-D and 8-D Blackjack offered.

Tropicana

Dealer stands on all 17s.

If a dealer draws a 3-card 21 while you've got a 2-card 21, you win.  But if dealer has a 2-card 21 and you have a 3-card 21, you lose.
